Environment
Fiera Milano is constantly striving to reduce the environmental impact of organising and holding events and exhibitions, focusing on good sustainability practices. To this end, it has identified initiatives aimed at reducing its environmental impact such as: conscious use of resources, waste management, renewal of the company fleet with more sustainable models, calculation of the carbon footprint of exhibitions, purchases of energy directly from renewable sources and a growing focus on the environmental impact of company buildings.
2023 Highlights
The upgrade of the photovoltaic system
Between 2021 and 2022, an impressive photovoltaic system with a power of 8.2 MWp and equipped with approx. 26,000 solar panels (equal to about 27 football pitches) was inaugurated. This initiative now fulfils approximately 20-25% of Fiera Milano's energy needs.
In 2023 an ambitious expansion of the photovoltaic system began with the aim of reaching a power of 17 MWp by 2024.
The project is part of the Group's broader Decarbonization Plan to 2030.
The collection of PET plastic in a controlled chain
Fiera Milano has installed, in partnership with Coripet, three compactors along the central axis of the Rho exhibition center (Milan), for the collection of PET plastic bottles which are recovered to produce new food packaging.
For each bottle inserted by visitors and employees into the compactors, they receive points for personal shopping and well-being, managed on a dedicated app.
An innovative and sustainable stand fitting offer
Fiera Milano, in partnership with Montecolino S.p.A., has been recovering and reusing the carpet laid during events since 2017. As a result of this synergy, the creation of innovative and sustainable panels made from recycled carpet was born, which can be used for the preparation of pre-fitted and customized booths. The initiative represents a virtuous example of circular economy resulting from the engagement between Fiera Milano and one of its main suppliers for the sustainable development of the business.
