TRENORD AND RAIL SERVICE IN LOMBARDY, THE MOST MOBILE REGION IN THE COUNTRY
Founded on 3 May 2011 by the two current shareholders, FNM Group and Trenitalia, Trenord is among the most important local public rail transport companies in Europe.
Trenord operates Lombard suburban and regional rail service, the Malpensa Express airport link from Milano Cadorna, Centrale, and Porta Garibaldi, and cross-border service through its 50 percent-owned Swiss company TILO.
Every day Trenord runs 2,200 journeys that reach over 460 stations in Lombardy, seven provinces in neighbouring regions, Malpensa International Airport, and carry 700 thousand passengers. These are figures that make Lombardy's rail service unique in Italy in terms of size and ubiquity.
In Lombardy, 77 percent of municipalities and 92 percent of citizens have a train station within a 5-kilometre radius.
Trenord operates rail service to Fiera Milano hubs for sustainable travel to the exhibition centres.
