SAFETY AT WORK: NEW AGREEMENT BETWEEN FIERA MILANO AND ASAL ASSOALLESTIMENTI
29/07/2022
Luca Palermo (Fiera Milano): "It is in our joint interest to guarantee the highest safety standards and ensure the smooth running of the assembly and dismantling operations of trade fair events".
Katia Celli (Asal): "Being part of Asal will be increasingly synonymous with safety: for our associates, for the exhibition centres that host us, and for the exhibitors who turn to us"
Milan, 29 July 2022 - Respect for legality and prevention of all forms of illegality; rejection of the employment of irregular or undeclared labour; promotion of higher health and safety standards; use of safe, certified materials that comply with health, safety and accident prevention regulations; correct assembly of structures; correct management and disposal of waste produced.
These, in short, are the objectives of the agreement signed between Fiera Milano and Asal Assoallestimenti of FederlegnoArredo, (the national association of stand fitting companies for trade fairs and exhibitions), which is part of, and adds an important piece to, the path undertaken by Fiera in June 2019 with the Protocollo d’intesa signed with the Prefecture of Milan "for the prevention and contrast of undeclared and irregular work within the trade fair districts managed by Fiera Milano"
An important partnership between Fiera Milano and FederlegnoArredo's Asal takes shape, testifying to sharing of values and continuous updating for an overall streamlining of procedures.
Asal's activity has always been oriented towards encouraging an increase in standards, particularly in the areas of safety, sustainability and training; aiming to involve all member companies.
The agreement establishes an information flow management between Fiera Milano and ASAL whereby members will be provided with a card with a QR containing their personal data. This operation will make it possible to have in real time the master data of the workers who will have access to the pavilions of the Fiera Milano quarters. Furthermore, the agreement envisages a constant commitment to raising awareness and promoting an occupational safety campaign, also through training aimed at the entire sector. In this sense, the project that will soon see Fiera Milano and FederlegnoArredo/ASAL activate a training course dedicated to the professions of the entire trade fair sector (from fitters to assemblers and technicians), driven by the conviction that more training is synonymous with greater safety in the workplace, will be even more strategic.
"The agreement confirms and reinforces the fundamental values of respect for legality and rejection of the use of illegal labour," comments Luca Palermo, CEO and General Manager of Fiera Milano. "It is in the joint interest of Fiera Milano and FederlegnoArredo/ASAL to guarantee the highest safety standards and to ensure that the assembly and dismantling operations of trade fair events are carried out correctly. For example, at Fiera Milano, during the set-up days of the Salone del Mobile, an average of 6,000 fitters per day were accommodated, allowing around 3,000 vehicles access daily. This number corresponds to the vehicle traffic of a small city in the Milan hinterland'.
"We are truly satisfied," says Katia Celli, president of Asal of FederlegnoArredo, "with the agreement that, thanks to FLA, we have been able to conclude: a tangible sign of the attention that we as an association pay to such important issues. Being part of Asal will be increasingly synonymous with safety both for our members, for the exhibition centres that host us, and for the exhibitors who turn to us. In fact, an indispensable precondition for the new cards to be valid as access passes is that each associate is correctly registered on the Fiera Milano/Allianz MiCo Fitters Platforms, having adhered to the 2019 Protocollo d’intesa and fully accepting its contents".
